I work full time renovating houses. I wear earplugs daily, but only for a short time to operate a saw, etc. Sometime for a few hours when sanding etc. Earplugs on a band allow my take take them on and off as needed. They are always around my neck and are quick and easy to put in. They fit my fat head and are comfortable for relatively long periods. They block sound better than anything else I have used.
